What Alumni Say. . ."I learned more here in one week than I did in all of my junior year in high school. From this camp, I have changed my goals for life. I really respect all of you and thank you from the bottom of my heart." "This camp has been great. . .better than great! I am so excited, thank you so much! I have never met a group of teachers/leaders who truly want to make themselves available to the students." "I absolutely loved the alumni sessions and was glad we had them." "Thank you for keeping your minds and hearts on fire for HIM, so ours could be sparked!" "I thank God for your ministry and what you guys are doing. If you want to start a year round Bible school--sign me up!"
My time spent at the Mind Games Conference Center was well worth my
time and effort. I learned more there than I ever have in a week.
They all had so much to say and everything was something so
interesting. Either a new fact or a new definition of something. I
can't say that I remember all of it but what I do remember is the
teachers' willingness to open their hearts to us and share with us
the meaningful and useful things they have learned. God totally
taught me so many things that week that I never could have learned
otherwise. I thank God for all the many people I met and for the
awesome leaders we had that week. God has truly blessed me with the
opportunity to go. I recommend this camp to anyone and everyone. It
is truly an eye-opening experience.
When I decided to attend the Mind Games Conference, I had no idea
what to expect except from what Jerry Solomon had portrayed for the
juniors and seniors at my high school. He acted as a professor
from a large university who was adamant about his dislike for
Christianity. The professor allowed no one to ask him questions
because he was the one asking the questions. Pretty
intimidating--I began to think that I
really needed to put some thought into my
faith. How grounded are my beliefs in this faith of which I was
introduced through my God-fearing parents? Is this faith my own?
Could I stand up for Christ in a way that would bring Him glory
while at the same time defending the reliability of His claims in
the Bible? Do I know how to explain the authenticity of the
Bible?
Ever since beginning high school I've been excited about sharing my
faith. I memorized several "hot topic" arguments in case I needed
to discuss such things as abortion, homosexuality, or evolution
with anyone. But reality soon slowed me down: I didn't know
exactly why I believed certain things about God and Christianity.
I couldn't defend, logically and from scripture, my faith at a
moment's notice. Many conversations which could have been critical
in the life of someone else were weighed down by my lack of
foundation for my beliefs. Mind Games helped change that. Mind
Games gave me the opportunity to talk personally with Christian
teachers who have faced situations very similar to my own--who
have been challenged on the same issues, and who have learned from
mistakes that I haven't even made yet. The atmosphere at Mind
Games was one of learning and being challenged, but it was also
about being at ease among fellow believers--it was about growing
through fellowship. Thanks to what I learned there, I have a
greater confidence to boldly live, and defend, my faith. I am as
excited as ever about God using me, but now I am better prepared
to be used.
I would recommend the Mind Games conference to every student who
loves God and believes that "the truth will set you free."
Mind Games is a place for doubt and inquiry, for teaching and
discussion, for fellowship and pool rugby. Most of all, it is a
place for students to learn to give a defense for what they
believe, and to do so with gentleness and reverence. The
instructors are wise and godly adults who are proficient not only
in the subjects on which they lecture, but also in life-skills and
practical Christianity, and they interact with the students on an
individual basis. Leaving Mind Games, I feel more sure of what I
believe and my ability to articulate it, and I feel more prepared
for life on the college campus.
I would like to express my thanks to anyone and everyone who took
part in the Mind Games seminars. I thank God for each one of you,
and I pray that He will continue to use you for His glory. I
thoroughly enjoyed meeting and getting to know many of you. It really
touched my heart to see so many Christian teens, like myself, who
make being a Christian not merely a title for Sunday, but a theme
for their lives!
