What's Happening to Our Youth?

As a majority of churched youth walk away from their Christian faith, many in ministry are alarmed and moved to action.

Probe president Dr. Ray Bohlin reports on a briefing by Youth Transition Network researchers and others who've identified a "triangle of discouragement" among contemporary young people.

Josh McDowell, author of The Last Christian Generation, says that kids will largely follow parents' lead. Pollsters find a claim to Christian faith among many adults, but little that distinguishes them from culture or the lifestyle of unbelievers. The implications of this and the YTN findings are that many teens are living a dual "reality" of faith-influenced behavior on one hand and world-driven alter-existence on the other, either by mimicking parents or as a defense (or both). The stakes are obviously quite high.
