Faith Like Potatoes

Renea McKenzie —Probe's newest staffer doesn't just take your calls, connect you with Probe speakers and do myriad other multi-tasks. She's a good writer. Her tenure at the famous L'Abri Fellowship, founded by Francis and Edith Schaeffer, as well as her Master's in Humanities at Dallas Baptist University has helped her to hone a critic's eye for film.

Hence, her review of a surprising 2006 release by filmmaker Regardt Van Den Bergh (The Visual Bible's Matthew) entitled Faith Like Potatoes. Based on the true story of a white farmer's journey to and through faith in Apartheid-era South Africa, this film struck Renea as rare good art.

Faith Like Potatoes DVD cover

Faith Like Potatoes, a film about a white African "whose faith made him a phenomenon."

Where Was God on Sept. 11?

Read

Dr. Ray Bohlin
—We just acknowledged the eighth anniversary of the tragic 9/11 terrorist attack in the U.S. It seems a fitting time to revisit issues like evil and God's sovereignty, why God didn't prevent 9/11 and "the danger of a nice explanation."

American Government & Christianity

Kerby Anderson
—"I enjoy studying early American history, to learn not only what the founders said, but what they meant as well. For me, our country's spiritual foundation is a rich treasure trove that reminds me of God's goodness." Radio page.

What Do We Make of the Stem Cell Debate?

Heather Zeiger
—“Since 2001 stem cells have been a hot topic in science, the media, and politics. I wanted to untangle the science findings from the popular hype. My program gives you the state of the stem cell controversy from a Christian perspective, and looks at the worldview issues behind the controversy.”

On Darwin's Dilemma, the latest from Illustra Media: “This is a terrific film. As much as I liked both Unlocking the Mystery of Life and The Privileged Planet from Illustra Media, I think this is even better. The animations are truly captivating. It goes to the heart of the evolutionary process. The Cambrian Explosion is the most spectacular event in the fossil record. The story of evolution’s attempt to explain this enigma exposes Darwinian evolution’s flaws in dramatic fashion.”

—Ray Bohlin, Ph.D.,
President, Probe Ministries
